Oh Aragosta, you have my heart! There is something undeniably magical about a wedding on the coast of Maine, and Perry and Sam’s celebration on Deer Isle captured every bit of it. As I made the drive farther Down East, winding along the fingers of the Maine coastline, the air slowly shifted. The familiar scent of pine gave way to salty sea breeze, weathered docks, and the unmistakable briny smell of the Atlantic. It felt like coming home.
For the weekend, I stayed at The Ark—a charming New England inn tucked just down the road from Aragosta. With its cozy coastal character and quiet surroundings, it was the perfect place to settle in before the festivities began.
Friday evening kicked off with one of the most quintessentially Maine traditions: a lobster bake overlooking the water. Of course, no Maine wedding would be complete without lobster making an appearance somewhere along the way. Perry embraced the theme wholeheartedly, arriving in the sweetest lobster earrings and lobster-print shoes that perfectly matched her joyful personality. She greeted every guest with excited hugs and happy squeals, and you could feel just how loved these two are. Family and friends stayed together in the charming cabins scattered throughout the Aragosta property, creating a weekend that felt less like an event and more like a gathering at a beloved family summer camp.
As the sun disappeared beyond the harbor, everyone gathered around a crackling bonfire, sharing stories beneath the stars before turning in for the night, eager for the celebration to come.
The next morning unfolded at an unhurried pace. Perry and Sam got ready in their waterfront cabin while the tide quietly rolled in behind them. With only about twenty of their closest family and friends in attendance, the day felt beautifully intimate. There was no rush, no pressure—just laughter, happy tears, ocean breezes, and the kind of peaceful joy that only seems to exist on the coast of Maine.
It was simple. Intentional. Timeless. And everything a coastal Maine wedding should be.
