So there is something a little ironic about this coming from me, a gal who didn’t have Super 8 at her own wedding, when I tied the knot at the York Golf and Tennis Club. And trust me, I had a wedding video that was absolutely GORG. I loved it then, and I still do. But…
However, now as a wedding photographer who also shoots Super 8 video (wohoo!!)…
There’s just something so calling, so intimate, and so perfectly coastal about a Super 8 film, especially in a seaside town. York, Cape Elizabeth, Kennebunkport, Bar Harbor, you name it! It carries a feeling that feels hand stitched, as if the tiny sprockets of film stock begin to weave into your own love story. The soft flicker. The grain. The way it can capture the wind in your veil or sunlight bouncing off the water. It feels like a memory before it’s even over.

Super 8 reminds me of a time where summers felt slower, love felt engrained, and moments weren’t overly polished, they were just real. Like something you’d find in your grandparents’ attic after a beach vacation in the ’90s. Barefoot on the lawn. Salt in the air. Champagne glasses clinking at golden hour.
That’s the small magic of it.
Even though I didn’t have it for my own wedding day, I can wholeheartedly say: there is something undeniably special about seeing a celebration captured on Super 8. It doesn’t just document the day, it preserves the feeling of it.
As a documentary Maine wedding photographer, now offering Super 8 film, I’d be honored to capture your love story right here in the place I call home, Maine!! Let’s create something timeless together.
